Is Chipotle Still Worth It in 2026? | Reviewing the Chicken Al Pastor Burrito Bowl
Let's eat some Chipotle! We took advantage of the burrito day promotion on April 2 and played unlockburritoday, a vault style game where participants can guess the right chipotle order and enter to win free prizes. I was lucky to receive a BOGO offer, so I promptly used it on some burrito bowls. I'll be reviewing the steak and chicken al pastor burrito bowl.
My order includes white rice, fajita vegetables, corn, mild tomato salsa, black beans, lettuce, and sometimes guac (no sour cream or cheese - do not like). Chipotle has been a staple in our household and is a great, affordable option when we're craving it. For the price you pay, it's quite worth it given the portion size and flavours. Given the rise in the prices of fast food, Chipotle is a great option if you live close to one, with its high protein offerings and fresh toppings.
We picked up our order at the Vancouver location on Cambie and Broadway, which has turned into a bit of a traffic nightmare given all the construction on Broadway. However, when you order on the app or website, it's easy to retrieve your food. This saves time and I don't have to worry about my order being incorrect. I also like pre-ordering my food so that by the time I arrive, it's all ready to go.
I had no issues with my order. Sometimes on social media you'll hear news about workers skimping out on portions, but this Cambie and Broadway location has been very solid and consistent everytime I've ordered Chipotle. Today's meal was very good and filling. As you can see, all of that food on the plate was half of the burrito bowl, perfect if you want to watch your portion size and also have enough for lunch the next day or for a late night snack.
The steak is not your typical steak; it's chopped up after grilling along with their chicken. Their chicken al pastor had a subtle sweetness paired with a bit of spice, making it a well-rounded protein option. I think it's one of their most popular options as well, only available for a limited time.
Is it the best steak I've ever had? No, obviously you can't compete with Elisa for instance, but for a quick, fast, casual option, Chipotle reigns supreme for its speed, price, and flavour. For BOGO days, it's a must get; $15 for 2 bowls in this economy is excellent. Even at $13 a bowl, it's highly accessible, healthy, and a great source of protein. No further issues to discuss or share!
Hits:
- A great casual meal, especially with BOGO offers and discounts
- Filling for the price you pay, a full meal
- Quality of proteins and toppings is very good
Misses:
- Portion quantity and quality are very hit or miss, especially across locations
- Some locations very hard to get there via car (lack of parking)
